2020 Vision--Annual Fund Campaign

As a private, nonprofit, the Museum of Art Fort Collins depends on our sponsors, members and donors to keep MoA open and improving. We’ve set our sights high to grow our museum from good to great, and we count on you to support our mission: to spread the power of visual art and share our good news!

We’re looking to the future. To that end, we created our 2020 Vision Plan to see past the closure and cost of COVID-19. We’ve created new ways to express our mission. The pandemic pushed us beyond “business as usual”, and since March, the staff and Board has taken up the challenge to develop a broader scope of ways to engage and serve our members, our artists, our community and the region. While our revenue and expenses were cut by 15% due to COVID-19, due to grants from PPP and SBA, as well as an SBA loan, and due to the generosity of our donors and members our budget is stabilizing!

While our budget is leaner, our ideas are bigger. Here are just some of the ways your support has helped us already expand our outreach:

  • We're more nimble. Our Masks Auction moved online and ranks third-best in sales over Masks’ 16-year history: $30,000 to be exact.

  • We’ve expanded our reach. In addition to our annual Masks Exhibition, which featured 215 local artists this year, we brought back the popular Rocky Mountain Biennial. The juried exhibition took a diverse look at contemporary artwork in the Intermountain West. It featured 58 artists and 106 artworks in various mediums.

  • We've streamlined and updated our operations to more easily and quickly respond to our members’ needs by adding new project management, accounting and integrated operational software packages.

  • We are creating new revenue streams by putting the gift shop online and launching a Digital Art Tour App in 2021 that will allow tourists and residents to find and learn about public art and exhibitions in Fort Collins and take our brand outside our museum walls.

  • We’re implementing our strategic planning to look past 2020, and we’ll be seeking your input and the community‘s feedback to inform our initiatives.

  • 2020/21 Goals are to move our membership from 455 to 700. MoA’s current membership accounts for about 10 percent of our annual budget of $367,000. We’d like to increase that to 20 percent.

We also have lots of ideas for creative fundraising in 2021 and beyond including a more robust grant strategy and creating a New Leadership Circle based on the Founders Society. But we cannot do that without your support. Our goal for the 2020 VIsion Campaign is to raise $30,000 by the end of the year and hope we can count on your donation.  As always we thank you for your continued support of MoA and the arts!
